Spring is around the corner, the sun is shining and this only means one thing, it’s time to shine up those cars in the garage and cruise on back to Dublin, Ohio for the 30th Annual Arthritis Foundation Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In, honoring Len Immke. This year’s event will take place on Friday, July 6 and Saturday, July 7, at the Dublin Metro Center.
To kick off our 30th Anniversary, the first ever Rolling Legend’s Tour will take place on Thursday, July 5 at 1:00 p.m., departing from the Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In show grounds. The tour will travel through Dublin and into Delaware to their final destination in Mt. Gilead at the Flying Horse Farms. The Flying Horse Farms, a member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Camps founded by Paul Newman, provides camps for children with serious illnesses. Participants will tour the facility and interact with Flying Horse Farms staff members and volunteers.
Friday’s Cruise-In, one of Central Ohio’s largest, features more than 1,500 antique cars, street rods, muscle cars, customs and European exotics. To start off the event, WLVQ 96.3 FM, a local radio station in Columbus, Ohio, will host a morning Drive By Cruise-In, sponsored by Pepsi, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. LIVE at the show. Radio personalities will be handing out samples of Pepsi Max, Arthritis Foundation Auto Show admission tickets and more. Participants and spectators will enjoy food, music and fun throughout the day. To wrap up Friday’s Cruise-In, the Van-Dells will entertain the crowd with nostalgic sounds from the 50’s and 60’s at 7:30 p.m. During intermission, 100 trophies, each towering over six feet tall will be presented to the “best of the best”.
Saturday’s show shifts gears and becomes a Classic Auto Show, attracting more than 1,200 classic and collector cars. This year three anniversaries will be commemorated, 110 years of Cadillac, 45 years of Chevrolet Camaro, and 45 years of Mercury Cougar. In addition to the featured marques and forty plus classes, a number of show-within-a-show groups will host their club functions in concurrence with the Classic Auto Show.
A winner’s circle with our specialty award winners will be on display near the stage when judging concludes at 5:00 p.m. Throughout the day hundreds of trophies will be given out amongst the classes. The day will conclude as the audience dances the night away to an oldies concert by Phil Dirt & The Dozers, Ohio’s premier oldies band, at 6:30 p.m.
In conjunction with the show, the Arthritis Foundation will be raffling off two one of a kind pedal cars. A high end designer from The Roadster Shop and Dominator will each be designing and painting a pedal car for this one of a kind raffle. Tickets are $5.00 each, 5 for $20 and 15 for $50. Tickets are on sale now through the Arthritis Foundation. The winner will be drawn during Saturday’s Classic Auto Show on July 7. Winner need not be present to win.
All proceeds from the event benefit the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region’s much needed arthritis support programs and research. The Classic Auto Show & Cruise-In is one of the largest fundraisers benefiting the Arthritis Foundation, Great Lakes Region.
